Wells, England's smallest cathedral city, is steeped in history and is only a five minute drive from Seekings. The majestic cathedral comes complete with a beautiful green, making it the perfect place for a picnic or simply to relax and watch the world go by. And, of course, if you would like to hear the famous Wells Cathedral Choir, why not attend evensong in the cathedral? www.wellscathedral.org.uk   You can also take a leisurely wander around the local farmers' market, held weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, in Wells's pretty cobbled market square. Or perhaps you'd like to take a stroll down Vicar's Close, the only complete medieval street in England.

Around ten minutes' drive from Seekings, you will also find the well-known Somerset town of Glastonbury. With its colourful shops and mystical reputation, Glastonbury is always popular with visitors. And, if you are feeling energetic, you can take a walk to the top of Glastonbury Tor and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views. If not, Glastonbury also boasts a picturesque abbey with beautiful grounds and the Somerset Rural Life Museum. www.somerset.gov.uk/museums www.glastonbury.co.uk  www.glastonburytor.org.uk/tor-leymap.html

Eating out is well catered for in the area with a variety of establishments to suit all budgets and tastes. Below are the ones we prefer:

The Pheasant Inn.

Goodfellows, Wells
This excellent restaurant is a must for a special dinner. The chef/owner produces wonderful seafood delights (non-fish menu also available) and the cakes from the patisserie are amazing.  They have a really good lunch time deal for 2 or 3 courses, well worth checking out. We have not had a disappointed guest yet!

The Old Spot, Sadlers Street , Wells
Mentioned in many good food guides Great for that special meal.. Great wine list and fabulous food. Children welcome.

The Bank House Cafe, Axbridge
This is a recent discovery. Wonderful evening meals with a leaning towards seasonal and local with a difference and great Italian wines. Best in the area homemade pizza for that lunch time stop. Reasonably priced for good local sourced food. Children welcome.

The Sheppey Inn, Godney
One of our favourite places for Sunday Roast. Set beside the River Sheppey. Really nice atmosphere.Baby, Mummy and Daddy size meals offered which is a brilliant idea and nealry always up to 7 vegetables included.
